My Journey Through South Korea: Exploring Seoul and Busan

Over the course of my trip, I explored the bustling city Seoul and the coastal charm of Busan, discovering a blend of rich history, delicious food, and stunning landscapes along the way.

First Stop: Seoul, the City That Never Sleeps

As soon as I landed in Seoul, I was struck by how alive the city felt. Neon signs lit up the streets and the smell of delicious food from street vendors was everywhere. Here are some highlights from my time in the capital:

1. Gyeongbokgung Palace
I started with one of Korea’s most iconic landmarks, Gyeongbokgung Palace. The backdrop of modern skyscrapers against the ancient palace was a reminder of Seoul’s unique blend of old and new. I stayed in a traditional Hanok just down the road.

2. Gwanjang: A Foodie Paradise
Next, I headed to Gwanjang market, one of Seoul’s many street food markets . This place was crazy! I tried tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), hotteok (sweet pancakes), and, of course, some freshly fried Jean (Korean pancakes).

3. Namsan Seoul Tower
For a panoramic view of the city, I made my way to Namsan Seoul Tower. The view over the city made me realise how big it really was.

A Quick Train Ride to Busan

I hopped on the KTX high-speed train to Busan. The journey took about 2.5 hours, and the scenic views along the way were a bonus. Busan is Korea’s second-largest city, but it has a completely different vibe—laid-back, coastal, and refreshingly calm.

1. Haeundae Beach
Busan is famous for its beaches, and Haeundae Beach was my first stop, I booked onto a surfing lesson and then ate seafood rice with loads of Banchan.

2. Gamcheon Culture Village
Often called the "Santorini of Korea," Gamcheon Culture Village is a colorful hillside neighborhood filled with winding alleys, art installations, and vibrant murals. Wandering through its narrow streets felt like being in a living art gallery. The view from the top was worth every step.

3. Jagalchi Fish Market
As someone who loves seafood, Jagalchi Market was a must-visit. This massive fish market offered everything from live crabs to fresh sashimi. Above the market there are many small restaurants and I enjoyed a fresh clam stew.
